Asunción, Agencia IP.- The President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, reported on his meeting with General Francis L. Donovan, Commander of the United States Southern Command.
«During our meeting, we discussed strategic issues, highlighting the strengthening of hemispheric security and the promotion of our bilateral cooperation programs,» the President stated.
The Paraguayan leader affirmed that the Government of Paraguay will continue working closely with its allies to guarantee the defense, peace, and well-being of its citizens.
The meeting with Donovan is one of the first official activities carried out by President Peña during his visit to the United States, where President Donald Trump invited him to take part in the «Shield of the Americas» summit on hemispheric security.
Other regional leaders are also attending the summit, which will take place this Saturday in Florida, including the presidents of Argentina, Ecuador, Bolivia, El Salvador, and Honduras, among others.
