The Minister of Labor shared with the ILO Director the government’s actions to generate 500,000 jobs

Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Minister of Labor, Mónica Recalde, shared the programs and projects carried out by the government to meet the goals of job creation with the Director of the Employment Policy Department of the ILO, Sangheon Lee.

The various initiatives promoted by the Paraguayan Government to foster the creation of around 500,000 jobs require the sum of efforts and constant support from international technical cooperation, Minister Recalde stated during her dialogue with the high-ranking official of the International Labour Organization (ILO).

The meeting took place in Geneva, Switzerland, parallel to the gathering of global experts from the ILO in this city to discuss wage policies, including living wages.

Shangheon Lee directs the action of the specialized agency of the United Nations to promote full and productive employment through the development of integrated employment, development, and skills policies.

During the meeting with the Minister of Labor of Paraguay, the ILO executive was able to learn about the programs and projects carried out by the Government to meet the goals of job creation, including innovation to facilitate the connection between job seekers and employers, whose primary tool is the public portal EmpleaPy.

it was also given priority to the modernization of vocational training, alignment between job supply and demand, the strategic Employment 360 program, and progress in bridging the gap between education and employment, seeking effective labor market integration.

Youth employment was considered a very relevant point due to the country’s current demographic transition, as reported by the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security.
