Asunción, Agencia IP.- Within the framework of the Sports Summit – Asunción 2026, Paraguay hosted the XXVI General Assembly of the American Sports Council (CADE) on May 6. This meeting brought together sports authorities from across the continent to advance a common agenda to strengthen sports in the Americas.

During the event, participating delegations decided that the next Sports Summit will be held in Lima, the capital of Peru, thus consolidating the continuity of the regional coordination forum among member countries.

The meeting opened with the Minister-Executive Secretary of the National Sports Secretariat (SND), César Ramírez Caje, who welcomed the international delegations and highlighted the importance of regional cooperation under the summit’s theme: «Integration that Transforms Sport.»

During the session dedicated to presenting best practices, participating countries shared outstanding experiences in sports policy. Paraguay presented its process of revitalizing university sports, while Chile shared its experience with the Special Olympics World Games.

The United States shared strategies for drug prevention through sports, and Mexico presented initiatives focused on mass participation in sports as a tool for rebuilding the social fabric.

The meeting also included an institutional session featuring an update from the CADE General Secretariat and participation by multilateral organizations and specialized entities. Among the topics discussed were the American Week of Sport, promoted by ACES, and progress in the fight against doping, with presentations from UNESCO, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), reaffirming the regional commitment to clean, fair, and transparent sport.

The day concluded with a closed-door session for CADE members, during which they analyzed strategic issues such as the organization’s anti-doping status, the functioning of its technical committees, and planning for the 2027 General Assembly.

With this event, Paraguay reaffirms its role as a facilitator of continental sports dialogue, promoting the exchange of experiences and the development of public policies that strengthen sport throughout the Americas.
