President Peña begins an official visit to Taiwan to strengthen the alliance and benefits for both countries

Asunción, Agencia IP.- President Santiago Peña, along with his official delegation, arrived in the Republic of China (Taiwan) to begin an official visit aimed at strengthening the strategic alliance between the two countries.

Peña was received by Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung and plans to hold a series of strategic meetings on Thursday, starting with a meeting with the Secretary-General of Taiwan’s National Security Council, Joseph Wu.

During the day, Peña will receive an honorary doctorate from Taiwan Tech University and will also meet with Paraguayan scholarship recipients at the university.

On this first day of official activities, the president will attend a dinner hosted by Taiwanese Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung, along with a delegation of Paraguayan business leaders.

For Paraguay, Taiwan is a key partner, and each meeting represents an opportunity to translate that friendship into concrete results for Paraguayans, according to a report from the Office of the President.

Peña had previously stated that this visit to Taiwan, followed by his arrival in the Philippines, aims to strengthen Paraguay’s ties with Asia and diversify the markets to which it exports.
