Paraguay’s forestry situation is presented to the diplomatic corps and business associations

Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Government presented details about the current forestry situation to the diplomatic and consular corps, businesses, and international organisms.

The presentation was made through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, and the National Institute of Forestry.

The Chancellor Rubén Ramírez Lezcano highlighted that Paraguay has an integrated vision that aims for a green economy, with a generation process of clean energy that protects the environment and forests but also accompanies development.

«Paraguay is aiming to generate conditions for a sustainable development that accompanies the wellbeing of all our inhabitants, sharing with the rest of the world an active policy of conscious and sustainable development, and most importantly, a policy of promotion and protection of a healthy environment constitutes a fundamental pillar prioritized by the Government of President Santiago Peña,» expressed during the presentation.

The President of the National Institute of Forestry, Cristina Goralewski, manifested that «the challenge we hold as a country is to develop more sustainably than other countries, and I believe that Paraguay is in the way of doing so.»

She detailed that the institution has achieved various milestones for the sector, such as the presentation of the National Forest Cover and Land Use Report, the participatory construction of the National Forest Restoration Plan (PNRF), the implementation of technological innovations for the Spatial Prioritization of Deforestation Alerts, among others.

In the activity, they also participated the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Víctor Verdún, and the Vice Minister of Economic and Integration Relations, Patricia Frutos, according to the Chancellery.
