Paraguayan pork is now an «everyday reality» in Taiwanese supermarkets

Asunción, Agencia IP.- Paraguayan pork has become a daily staple on supermarket shelves in Taiwan, the embassy in Paraguay highlighted. Taiwan is the leading destination for Paraguayan pork exports, holding an 86% market share.

This represents exports totaling USD 45.46 million. The increase followed the official implementation of zero tariffs on Paraguayan pork exports. In addition, the product’s excellent quality and flavor, well-suited to the Taiwanese palate, have made it highly competitive in this Asian market.

Given the significant room for growth, Paraguay’s pork industry aims to expand production, thereby creating jobs for Paraguay’s people.

Over the past two years, the sector has tripled its exports, mainly due to Taiwan’s export incentives. Between January and October of this year, pork exports reached 15.5 million kilograms.

In addition to pork, Taiwan also imports Paraguayan beef. In the first half of 2025, it imported more than 25 million kilograms of beef, valued at USD 151 million.
