Paraguay showcases investment opportunities in Genoa to Italian business leaders

Asunción, Agencia IP.- Genoa hosted Paraguay’s country presentation, a key event held as part of a Paraguayan delegation’s visit from June 13 to 15, 2026. The delegation comprised entrepreneurs and institutional representatives focused on strengthening economic relations between Paraguay and Italy, with particular emphasis on attracting investment and developing strategic partnerships.

The country presentation was led by Natalia Cáceres, Paraguay’s Trade Attaché for Europe, based at the Embassy of Paraguay in Spain (Madrid), who highlighted the country’s competitive advantages and investment opportunities before Italian business leaders and investors.

During the event, the delegation presented opportunities for cooperation in priority sectors, including agribusiness, healthcare, tourism, finance, biofuels, and artificial intelligence, through meetings with Italian companies and investors.

Italy’s Ambassador to Paraguay, Marcello Fondi, emphasized the historical ties between the two countries, stating: «It is a country that has grown over recent decades thanks to the significant contribution in terms of work and expertise provided by Italian communities that settled in Paraguay from the beginning of the 19th century.»

For her part, Paraguay’s Ambassador to Italy, María José Argaña, underscored the South American nation’s economic and structural potential: «We have a high proportion of people under the age of 30 and tax advantages that encourage investment in Paraguay, but the sectors we consider fundamental are agribusiness, technology, clean energy, and innovation.»

Along the same lines, Fernando Beconi, President of the Italian-Paraguayan Chamber of Commerce, highlighted Paraguay’s competitive advantages for foreign investment: «At present, we have abundant raw materials, commodities, natural resources, and minerals to leverage, as well as a strategic geographic position. We are the most recognized gateway to South America.»

Meanwhile, Conor McEnroy, President of Sudameris Bank in Paraguay, offered his perspective based on experience with foreign investment in the country: «Paraguay is a paradise. The people are very welcoming; foreigners are embraced; the country is very rich.»

The meeting in Genoa was established as a forum for economic and diplomatic dialogue to strengthen bilateral cooperation and open new investment opportunities between Paraguay and Italy in strategic sectors with high growth potential.
