Asunción, Agencia IP.- Paraguay continues to stand out as a destination full of growth and development opportunities, according to Kirsten Schoder-Steinmueller, CEO of Schoder GmbH, a German company specializing in metal processing based in Langen, Germany.

Schoder-Steinmueller was left with a positive impression of Paraguay during her recent visit, mainly due to its ongoing economic growth, flourishing agricultural sector, and increasing role as an energy exporter.

In a LinkedIn post, the businesswoman expressed her admiration for Paraguay’s opportunities, both for the country itself and German companies interested in investing.»My visit showed me the vast potential and opportunities this country offers, not only for Paraguay itself but also for German companies looking to invest and shape the future,» she stated.

Schoder-Steinmueller highlighted Paraguay’s impressive development over the past two decades, especially its steady economic expansion. «What truly impressed me was that between 2002 and 2023, the relative poverty rate was nearly halved—an outstanding success in social development,» she emphasized.

Key meetings and insights

Schoder-Steinmueller was impressed by our country during her recent visit, particularly with its continued economic growth.

One of the visit’s highlights was a meeting with officials from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). Schoder-Steinmueller met with Lorena Méndez, Vice Minister of Industry; Gustavo Giménez, Vice Minister of MSMEs; German Ambassador Gordon Kricke; and several directors from the Investment and Export Network (Rediex). The discussions focused on cooperation between Paraguay and Germany, the country’s positioning within Mercosur, and opportunities for professional training.

Another notable moment was her interaction with Angela Janzen of ja-dialog Paraguay, a German company operating in Paraguay since 2023. With support from the Paraguayan-German Chamber of Commerce (AHK Paraguay), ja-dialog has established a call center providing German-language services for the European market, opening new avenues for collaboration between the two nations.

Schoder-Steinmueller also attended the «Women Entrepreneurs Forum,» where topics such as female leadership, business integrity, and innovation were discussed. She praised the increasing prominence of women in Paraguay’s economy, from managerial roles to CEO positions in commerce and services.

Strengths and challenges

In her analysis of Paraguay’s strengths, Schoder-Steinmueller mentioned low energy costs, the booming agricultural sector, and growing industrialization. However, she also acknowledged infrastructure and legal security challenges while noting government efforts to address these issues.

Finally, Schoder-Steinmueller concluded that Paraguay has opportunities for sustainable business, innovation, and collaboration. «German companies not only find attractive economic conditions here but also partners who share similar values,» she remarked.
