Asunción, Agencia IP.- Paraguay’s military forces received equipment for forest firefighting and personal protection by the Massachusetts National Guard Innovation Team (MANGIT).
The delivery was possible through the cooperation of several departments of Massachusetts aiming to improve the capacity’s response for forest firefighting.
The donation consisted of jackets, pants, bomb suits, boots, riot helmets, water bottles, Level B suits, chemical boots, chemical gloves, goggles, masks, fire axes, headgear, tactical vests, face shields, inflatable spine boards, gun belts, Kappler suits, protective clothing for avian flu, Trellchem Level B suits, automatic external defibrillators, Dupont Level A suits, fire helmets, safety helmets and ballistic helmets.
Of the donation ceremony, participated the Ambassador of US, Marc Ostfield, the Commander of MANGIT, General Gary W. Keefe, and members of the delegation that is visiting the country, representatives of the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) of the US Embassy and local authorities of the Military Forces.
Ambassador Ostfield thanked the National Guard for the donation, saying that it reinforces the United States’ message of training the military forces of Paraguay as a part of bilateral cooperation.
The experience of Ambassador Ostfield as a volunteer firefighter for over 25 years emphasizes the vital role and commitment of the communities and the reciprocal need of military and government institutions to strengthen their commitment to service with civil society.
