Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Ministry of Technologies of Information and Communication (Mitic, by its acronym in Spanish) analyzed challenges about human rights and communications at a Mercosur meeting. The event aims to promote the exchange of experience among its country members.
At the dialogue table, moderated by Camilo Onoda Caldas, narrator of the Working Group to Combat Hate Speech and Extremism, Cesar Palacios, General Director of Strategic Communication, presented his presentation, where he shared crucial reflections on Mitic’s commitment in this field.
In his speech, Palacios emphasized the ministry’s role in the fight against misinformation and hate speech, highlighting the social responsibility to guarantee access to public information with objectivity and impartiality.
He highlighted the duty to combat false information and the use of mass media to promote hate speech.
He cited international instruments, such as the American Convention on Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, to support the importance of measures against disinformation and hate speech, balancing the protection of freedom of expression.
On the other hand, he reaffirmed Mitic’s commitment to the activities of the RAADH and supported all proposals that seek to elevate human dignity and respect human rights.
In a joint call, he urged to work tirelessly to combat the misuse of technology and promote a communication environment that fosters altruism and mutual respect.
Mitic’s active participation in this event highlights the Government’s commitment to addressing crucial challenges for democratic strengthening in the region. The XLII RAADH will continue until November 24, promoting the exchange of experiences and defining public human rights policies in Mercosur.
