Asunción, Agencia IP.- The National University of Asunción (UNA) remains in the 1201–1400 range of the QS World University Rankings 2027, one of the most widely recognized international higher education rankings. In this edition, QS evaluated 8,808 institutions from 106 countries, and UNA was the only Paraguayan university included in the ranking.
The National University of Asunción strengthens its position in the QS global university classification and shows progress in academic reputation, international research network, and sustainability, while maintaining a strong performance in employability outcomes.
The result comes in a highly competitive international context, with 98 new institutions joining the 2027 edition.
Academic reputation improvement
Among the indicators with positive results is Academic Reputation, which reached a score of 9.5 in the 2027 edition, compared to 7.6 in the previous measurement.
This indicator accounts for 30% of the total QS World University Rankings weighting and is based on academics’ perceptions across different regions of the world. This improvement reflects recognition of the academic, scientific, and outreach work carried out by the faculties, centers, and institutes that make up UNA.
Strengthening international research networks
The National University of Asunción also recorded an improvement in its International Research Network indicator, with a score of 16.6, up from 13.1 in the previous edition.
This dimension evaluates the diversity and continuity of international research collaborations, as well as universities’ ability to integrate into global academic and scientific networks. In this indicator, the contributions of teaching and research teams across academic units are essential to sustaining and strengthening partnerships with international peers and institutions.
Sustainability
In Sustainability, the institution achieved a score of 38.2, an increase from the previous 28.8.
This result reflects the growing importance of assessing the social and environmental impact of universities as centers of education, research, and institutional management, and is linked to initiatives developed across faculties, centers, and institutes in training, research, extension, and community engagement.
Employability
Another key indicator for UNA is Employment Outcomes, which received a score of 65.3, placing it in the top 25% globally.
This metric assesses institutions’ ability to enhance graduate employability and the trajectories of alumni who generate impact across diverse professional and social fields.
This performance is supported by the academic training provided by the university’s units, the work of its faculty and leadership, and ongoing engagement with graduates, employers, and society.
The QS World University Rankings methodology integrates dimensions such as research and discovery, employability and outcomes, learning experience, global engagement, and sustainability. Its indicators include academic reputation, citations per faculty, employer reputation, employment outcomes, faculty-student ratio, international faculty, international students, international research network, and sustainability.
Within this framework, UNA directs its institutional efforts toward strengthening academic quality, scientific production, internationalization, sustainability, and engagement with graduates and employers. These priorities form part of a continuous improvement agenda driven by the work of UNA’s academic units, guided by an integrated institutional approach.
This collective effort contributes to positioning Paraguay’s public university within global higher education evaluation systems worldwide.
