Asunción, Agencia IP.- President Santiago Peña received an Honorary Doctorate from Taiwan Tech University on Thursday. He stated that the award reflects a strong alliance between Paraguay and Taiwan, and met with young Paraguayan scholarship recipients on the Asian island.
During the first day of his official visit to Taiwan, Peña received the academic distinction at a ceremony attended by the Vice President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Hsiao Bi-khim, and the President of Taiwan Tech, Professor Jia-Yush Yen.
In addition to expressing his deep gratitude for the recognition, the President said that the distinction reflects a strong alliance between Paraguay and Taiwan, founded on shared values and cooperation that generates concrete results for both nations.
«I will carry it as a symbol of the path that Paraguay and Taiwan continue to build together,» said the President of the Republic of Paraguay.
Later, Peña had the opportunity to meet with the Paraguayan scholarship recipients currently studying at Taiwan Tech.
He emphasized that these young Paraguayans are acquiring world-class knowledge so they can «return home and lead innovation and development in our nation.»
«Seeing them here, with all they represent, confirms that we are on the right track,» Peña said.
The president highlighted that the strategic educational alliance between Paraguay and Taiwan, strengthened through institutions such as the Taiwan-Paraguay Polytechnic University and Taiwan Tech, allows Paraguay to bolster its investment in the human capital that drives the country’s development.
