Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Government of Paraguay, through the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), held talks with representatives of Taiwan’s main airlines, China Airlines and EVA Airways, to explore the opportunities for a new direct route between Taipei and Asunción.
The Paraguayan delegation, comprised of MIC Minister Marco Riquelme and Vice Minister Eduardo Gustale, accompanied by Commercial Attaché Macarena Barboza and Mr. Carlos Gill, presented to their Taiwanese counterparts Paraguay’s strategic potential as a key logistics and connection hub for South America, in addition to the sustained trade between the two countries over the past decade.
During the meeting, the possibility of establishing an alternative connectivity route between Asia, the United States, and South America was analyzed, taking into account current connections and market structures.
These meetings establish a direct channel of dialogue and contact with both airlines, representing an initial step toward exploring the project’s viability and creating new opportunities for passenger transport and the development of air cargo routes.
As a result of the meeting, the Paraguayan delegation will provide further information and technical and commercial data to allow airlines that expressed interest in learning more about Paraguay to evaluate the potential and feasibility of a route that includes our country.
They also promoted the strengthening of the bilateral relationship and opportunities for growth in air connectivity and logistics.
