Asunción, Agencia IP.- Minister of Foreign Affairs Rubén Ramírez Lezcano met in Washington with Joshua Young, Coordinator for China at the U.S. Department of State and Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs.

During the meeting, they discussed the hemispheric agenda and the challenges facing the region. They highlighted Paraguay’s importance as a strategic ally and as the only country in the region that maintains diplomatic relations with the Republic of China (Taiwan).

Both officials agreed on the need to continue working together to address regional issues and to further strengthen democracy in the Americas.

They also discussed potential cooperation agreements across various fields.
