Asunción, Agencia IP.- Minister Marco Riquelme, along with Vice Minister of Commerce Alberto Sborovsky, met with representatives of the Paraguayan-Israeli Chamber of Commerce, led by its representative Alejandro Laufer, as part of an agenda focused on strengthening trade relations and promoting new investment opportunities between the two countries.
The chamber representatives presented Minister Riquelme with an award and expressed their interest in working with the Ministry to boost bilateral trade and to organize a public-private trade mission to Israel in the second half of the year.
Laufer highlighted that trade between Paraguay and Israel has experienced sustained growth in recent years, especially in products such as meat, yerba mate, and charcoal, positioning the country as a key supplier to that market.
It is worth noting that the Israeli market is the fourth-largest destination for Paraguayan beef, with exports exceeding USD 225 million in 2025 and favorable prospects for both volume and price.
Diversifying products
The Chamber representative indicated that there is interest in expanding Paraguay’s export offerings to include products such as wood and industrial goods, while also promoting greater entry of Israeli products into the local market.
Furthermore, he pointed out that one of the main objectives is to promote Israeli investment in Paraguay, highlighting factors such as the maquila regime, energy availability, the competitive tax environment, and the demographic dividend as attractive elements for establishing new industries.
The idea is to diversify both the products Paraguay exports to Israel and those Israel exports to Paraguay, and to create conditions for more Israeli investors to establish themselves in Paraguay, he stated.
He also praised the MIC’s openness and willingness to work jointly with the private sector, highlighting the positive prospects for further strengthening bilateral trade and generating new opportunities for economic development.
