Asunción, Agencia IP.- Paraguayan Joshua Duerksen, a Formula 2 driver, achieved a dream debut with his new team Invicta Racing, taking first place in the Sprint Race held this Saturday in Melbourne, Australia.

Paraguay’s tricolor flag and national anthem once again echoed across Australian territory in what has been a special victory for Duerksen, who had already won the Melbourne Sprint Race last year with his previous team, AIX Racing.

The celebrated win marks the beginning of a challenging year for the Paraguayan driver. After two outstanding seasons in the category, he joined the leading team in Formula 2 for the 2026 season.

The team highlighted the strong start to the season by the Paraguayan driver, who secured first place ahead of Noel León and Alex Dunne.

The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team also celebrated the Paraguayan driver’s victory. Since this year, Duerksen has been part of the team as a development driver.

This Saturday at 9:30 p.m. Paraguay time, Duerksen will compete in the Feature Race, aiming to consolidate his lead in the opening round of the 2026 Formula 2 season.
