Asunción, Agencia IP.- A bipartisan delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives is on an official visit to Asunción to explore economic exchange opportunities and expand bilateral trade between the two countries.
The U.S. Embassy in Paraguay reported that the delegation is led by Representative Jason Smith (Republican, Missouri), Ways and Means Committee Chairman. His colleagues accompany him on a tour of countries in the hemisphere.
Accompanying Representative Smith are the following members of the delegation:
- Dan Kildee (Michigan), Ways and Means Committee.
- Claudia Tenney (New York), Ways and Means Committee.
- Garret Graves (Louisiana), Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
- María Elvira Salazar (Florida), Committee on Foreign Affairs.
- Mark Alford (Missouri), Armed Services Committee.
- Ed Case (Hawaii), Appropriations Committee.
During their stay in our country, the delegation plans to meet with President Santiago Peña (on Wednesday) and government representatives, as well as with the private sector.
The delegation will visit an American export company in Paraguay, where the members of Congress will learn about the local human capital and its potential for industrial development.
The U.S. Congressional delegation will conclude their activities with a tour of the historic center of Asunción, where they will explore cultural and historical sites.
This distinguished representation from the U.S. Congress began their tour in Argentina, continued in Paraguay, and will conclude in Chile.
