Asunción, Agencia IP.- Minister of Industry and Commerce Javier Giménez met with authorities from Singapore and business leaders from various Southeast Asian countries, aiming to strengthen Paraguay’s commercial ties with this region.
The mission also explored opportunities in the environmental sector, where the government seeks to capitalize on its significant potential.
On Wednesday, Minister Giménez engaged in a pivotal discussion with Alvin Tan, head of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore, and his team. The focus of the conversation was on a topic of paramount importance-carbon credits, a key element in Paraguay’s environmental initiatives.
The meeting also included participation from Enterprise Singapore, which aims to accelerate and consolidate trade exchanges between Paraguay and Singapore.
In another meeting, the Paraguayan minister met with Damian Chan, CEO of the Singapore Food Agency, to discuss the sanitary process for opening the market for Paraguayan pork and beef in Singapore.
Additionally, the Minister met with Frederic Teo, CEO of GenZero, an investment platform committed to accelerating global decarbonization. GenZero aims to generate a positive climate impact and achieve sustainable long-term financial returns through nature-based and technological investments.
Minister Giménez’s visit to Asia also included other member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which comprises Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar.
The goal is to intensify trade exchanges with these countries and open doors to Southeast Asia, one of the world’s most populous markets.
