Peña transmits Paraguay’s support to Israel’s President

Asunción, Agencia IP.- The President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, communicated to his counterpart of Israel, Isaac Herzog, to whom he transmitted his support and desire for peace return to the Asian country.

«I held a telephonic conversation with @Isaac_Herzog, President of Israel. I transmitted to him all our support in this difficult time and our sincere desire that peace returns to this sister nation as soon as possible», published the Head of State on past Sunday in his social media.

On Saturday, October 7, a sudden attack by Hamas in Israel communities left 1,300 deaths and 126 hostages among civilians and militaries, according to information from Israel’s army.

When the attacks were made known, President Peña manifested his support to Israel «in the face of the cowardly terrorist attacks it has suffered.»

Militants of the group Hamas perpetrated the attacks, the main faction that governs the Gaza Strip. Paraguayan State has recognized the organization as a «terrorist international organization» since August 2019, according to Decree N° 2.307/19.

The Israeli army ordered the evacuation of 1.100,000 civilians from the Gaza Strip’s Northern side while preparing a terrestrial offensive in the region. After the attacks last Saturday, Israel initiated a bombing campaign that has left 2.450 deaths so far, according to Palestinian authorities.
