Asunción, Agencia IP.- The United States government, through its Embassy in Asunción, congratulated Paraguay for operation «Dulzura,» which led to the seizure of over 4,000 kilos of cocaine at a private port.

«We congratulate @senad_paraguay, @DNITpy, @MinPublicoPy, and the Administrative Coordination of Customs Investigation for the historic seizure of 4 tons of cocaine under the operation ‘Dulzura.’ It is a significant blow against drug trafficking, reinforcing the commitment to fight this scourge,» the Embassy’s official account posted on platform X.

Operation «Dulzura» was a joint effort between the National Anti-Drug Secretariat and the National Directorate of Tax Revenue, which identified a suspicious shipment of sugar destined for Belgium.

Four containers were detained at the private port of Caacupemí as part of the operation. In one of them, 4,013 kilos of cocaine were found, hidden among the bags of sugar.

President Santiago Peña highlighted that this record seizure is part of the success of his government’s changes in the Senad and the reform of the DNIT, which have improved controls.

«There is a firm conviction that Paraguay will cease to be a route for drug trafficking, and this requires a tremendous effort, but primarily an unwavering political determination to continue fighting against this scourge,» the President stated.
