Asunción, Agencia IP.- In a ceremony at the Government Palace, President Santiago Peña swore in Mario Toyotoshi as the new Paraguayan ambassador to Japan. The new representative highlighted the current relations between the two countries and his intention to strengthen them further.
One of the main points on his agenda is increasing investment inflows. «Over the past 60 years, our relationship has been based on financial aid for projects in education, agriculture, and infrastructure; however, moving forward, both governments aim for closer ties to attract investments,» he said after the ceremony.
He noted that promoting Japanese investments in Paraguay will target both the private sector and government agencies.
Toyotoshi stated that President Peña had directed him to explore new opportunities with the Japanese government. He emphasized projects such as cooperation in the space sector, which includes training advanced human resources and the construction of two nanosatellites: one already in orbit and the second being entirely developed in Paraguay.
Toyotoshi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the International Christian University of Japan and has participated in professional development programs such as the Quantum Shift Program at the Ivey School of Business in 2012 and the Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2019. He is proficient in English, French, and Japanese.
He served as vice president of the Chamber of Automotive and Machinery Distributors of Paraguay and the Chamber of Advertisers of Paraguay, later assuming the presidency and the role of CEO of Automarket SA.
Internationally, he has served as President and CEO of the Toyotoshi Group in Canada since 2004. Additionally, he has been Vice President of the Paraguayan Association for Quality. He has held the position of Honorary Consul of the Republic of Paraguay in Ontario since 2013. He is currently the Executive Director of TG Cuir International SA.
